We Are Thankful for Special Educators Blog Hop

Special Education Blog Hop

I am so thankful to be part of this wonderful group of special educators that are joining hands to bring you cheer and joy this Thanksgiving holiday!  I am also thankful for YOU, our readers, who hopefully are finding many blessings this holiday season!  😉

The focus of this hop is to share tips and freebies that will make your life easier better upon your return to the classroom in a few days.  My tip for you is….

Don't be Afraid

Just as you have your students’ best interests in mind, well so do I.  However…sometimes I have epic fails which still result in learning.

Mistakes are okay

Maybe you feel like it is better to stick with tried and true, the humdrum wonderful curriculum through your district, but trust me, your great ideas can be miraculous for engaging your kiddos!

Take a look at my most recent “FAIL!” Homemade butter….NOT!

Making Butter

You guessed it….do NOT keep shaking the jar to get firmer butter.  I’m not sure what the actual term is for what we ended up with, but we all learned something from this AND had fun!

We made muffins to go along with our goop butter, and I reflected later that I should have allowed more than one day for this activity.

We learned about searching on google, reading recipes, and compared two recipes using a venn diagram.  I really, I mean REALLY, could have spent more time on the events leading up to our delicious treat.  My students need more time to process and experience these learning events, but I had to hurry up and get finished so we could eat, because I scheduled this on the same day as our Big Thanksgiving Lunch.  Um, I can hear you thinking now… another epic fail  😆 !  However we LEARNED and had FUN!

My last tip: “Overlook your mistakes and rejoice in the part that goes right!”

I created a freebie just for you.  It is a printable sample from several of my literacy products. You can find it by clicking {HERE.}

All I Want For Black Friday!

All I Want For Christmas

Black Friday is a wonderful time of the year to purchase quality products that have been on your wishlist all year.  I am going to share with you a few of the items on my wishlist this year! Thank you to the Primary Pack for organizing this event!

My Wishlist

I heard about the 247 Teacher’s Common Core Close Reading Toolkit in a Facebook Group I belong to.  I think this would be a perfect addition to my student’s literacy program.

I am in love with my friend Jennifer’s store over at Stories and Songs in Second Grade and she has some wonderful products that I have been checking out.  Be sure to check out her Winter Warm Up.  This looks perfect for creative writing with a winter theme!

Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah has some adorable clipart and I want to get my hands on her new borders that would be perfect for creating things for my classroom!  If you need some winter doodle frames, be sure to check them out.

Fluttering Through First Grade has a bundle of Listening Activities that I am intrigued by.  They are aligned to Common Core and would help my language students build their receptive skills.

Don’t be fooled…my list is much longer than this!  These were some outstanding items that I thought you would be interested in adding to your own wishlist.  I plan on whittling down my list from the comfort of my home during this Black Friday Event!

Wishlist for you

I will leave you with a few of my own products from my store you might consider adding to your wishlist.  These items are all geared for K-3.  Spiral Math Review includes 36 Task Cards perfect for a guided math group, or a fun game of Scoot.  A sample is shown below.
